* Goa Gajah or the famous Elephant Cave. It overlooks the Petanu River and showcases a Siwaitic rock-cut cave, a bathing place, a monks’ chamber, a number of Buddhist rock cut stupas and statues and several foundations. It is known as the 11th century Buddhist hermitage.

* Gunung Kawi is famous for its complex rock cut monument dating from the late 11th century. It is one of Bali’s ancient and largest monuments and consists of 10 rock-cut candi (shrines) – memorials cut out of the rock face in imitation of actual statues.

The little forest is inhabited by about 125 of Balinese macaques or otherwise known as long tailed macaques. The three holy temples in the forest were built during the mid-14th century. Pura Dalem Agung is the temple of the dead and is located at the southwestern part of the main forest. The Holy bathing temple is located at the northwest down a long flight of steps above the stream. The third temple is Pura Prajapati at the eastern edge of the main forest alongside a graveyard.

This is probably the largest existing Balinese house temple built in the middle of the 18th century by Mengwi’s greatest King.

* Lake Bratan, located in the mountains near Bedugul, has the best view on a major Shivaite water temple that was built in 1663. The temple is used for offerings ceremony to the Balinese water, lake and river goddess Dewi Danu. Lake Bratan is known as the Lake of Holy Mountain due to the fertility of this area. Located 1200m above sea level, it has a cold tropical climate.

* Gitgit Waterfall is a beautiful tourist destination in north part of Bali not too far from Lovina and the old Island capital Singaraja. It is located in the plateau area at around 35 meters height and is surrounded by tropical rain forest.

* Lovina Beach, west of Singaraja, stretches along 8km of black sandy beach. The name of Lovina was coined by the last king of Buleleng. There are no clear sources or evidence on the genesis of the name Lovina but is interpreted as love contained in the hearts of all people.

* Banjar, is a natural hot spring, located at the heart of Singaraja and, is believed to heal skin disease.

* The Kerta Gosa pavilion at Klungkung Palace, located in the city of Klungkung, is an example of Balinese architecture. It was first build in the early 18th century with primary function in 1945 as a court of law and then became a historical building displaying an array of paintings.

* Goa Lawah or Bat Cave is a temple with nature cave dwelt by thousands of tail bat. Legend has it that when Klungkung was ruled from Kusamba, a prince of Mengwi sought refuge here and entered the bat cave. He was not seen again until he emerged nearly 20kms to the north at Pura Besakih. No one has since tried to enter the cave to prove whether it really extends that far.

* Tenganan village is very unique due to its Bali Aga culture that still holds to the original traditions, ceremonies and rules of ancient Balinese. It is also very unique by its village layout and architecture.

Taman Ujung Water Palace is located in the village of Seraya in Karangasem regency. It is the sister site of Tirta Gangga, also built by the late raja of Karangasem. The complex consists of various large pools and historic structures set against a backdrop of Mount Agung and the eastern shoreline.

Tirta Gangga meaning Water of Gangga, refers to the scared river of Hindu. The last Raja of Karangasem Anak Agung Anglurah built it around 1948 as one of his three testaments to his obsession with pools, moats and fountains. Tirta Gangga, an elegant palace, was damaged on several occasions including the eruption of Mount Agung in 1963.

* Antonio Blanco Museum. After the Catalan romantic-turned-beloved Balinese expatriate artist known as Antonio Blanco passed away in 1999, the mansion he left behind was transformed into a memorial to his life's work. The building and the art inside presents a fascinating picture of Blanco. The exterior sports sculpture like a decorative gate patterned after Blanco's signature, while the interior shows off a series of graceful, erotically languid nude portraits. * Puri Lukisan Museum. The Museum PuriLukisan traces its roots to the kind patronage of an Ubud prince, Tjokorda Gde Agung Sukawati, who co-founded the gallery with expatriate artist Rudolf Bonnet. The annual KebiarSeni presents new work from Bali's young traditional artists on the museum grounds, an opportunity for collectors to snatch up work from future masters. * Agung Rai Museum of Art. * Neka Art Museum.The Neka's 2,500 sqm of exhibit space exhibits about 300 pieces of modern Balinese art spanning the years between late 19th century to present. * Rudana Fine Art Museum. The massive Museum Rudana, founded by an Ubud politician named Nyoman Rudana, presents an impressively eclectic collection of contemporary Balinese and Indonesian art, with over 400 pieces arranged over three levels. It is a terrace up the hillside with 38 steps leading to a beautifully decorated guardian statues entrance of wayang-figures taken from the popular Ramayana story. One of the main point of attraction in the temple is a big old Banyan Tree that is over 700 years old.
